Nine multi-layer plotter art prints exploring the mathematics of morphogenesis, emergence, and natural form — each piece accompanied by a science narrative.
This series brings together three algorithmic families that generate complex, organic forms from simple mathematical rules. Reaction-diffusion models Turing's chemical morphogenesis; cellular automata demonstrate computational universality and emergent complexity; L-systems encode plant growth as recursive rewrite grammars. Each piece is rendered as a multi-layer SVG designed for pen plotting, with each layer representing a distinct field, time slice, or structural tier. The full set includes 27 SVG layers across 9 works, each with a 150–200 word narrative grounded in the underlying mathematics.
